Spalding's correspondence, minutes, reports including survey reports, notes, course materials, and miscellany document her work as chairman or member of committees of the American Nurses' Association, the National League for Nursing, American Collegiate Schools of Nursing, District of Columbia League of Nursing, National Council of Catholic Nurses, and other nursing and health organizations, 1930s-1960s; as a Senior Nursing Officer for the United States Public Health Service during World War II, 1942-1946; as a professor in the Dept. of Nursing Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, 1932-1934 and 1950-1959, and at the Catholic University of America, 1934-1941 and 1959-1962; and as a surveyor of nursing education programs at hospitals and schools of nursing, ca. 1928-1960, throughout the country. Notes for lectures and addresses, 1934-1966; books, reprints, and manuscript writings on nursing and nursing education, 1920-1965; and some personal photographs, clippings, grade records, and miscellaneous documents are also included.
